When designing storage, we wanted to create a solution to combat a problem that we know many parents face… The dreaded moment your child empties the WHOLE cupboard to get that one toy which always seems to be at the very back!

The Nestie Open Toy Box was designed to be a medium sized toy box that put the kids in the driving seat when it comes to ownership of their own toys. We wanted to provide a storage solution that was functional, aesthetically pleasing and made their toys and treasured things accessible. As parents ourselves, we believe toys should be freely enjoyed whenever it takes a child's fancy and so it was equally important that we created something that would look so good you'd be happy to use in any room in the home.

We're also big fans of toy rotation. We think it's a great idea to switch out toys that might be slipping on the Interest-O-Meter and sub in some that might have not been used for a while. Based on the face of our youngest child, you'd swear that in his mind, he's been given brand new toys each week, when in reality, they're the ones that he'd been playing with 4 weeks prior. 

Functional storage

First and foremost, our storage needed to be just that… storage. But when designing these products we wanted something that could also be moveable and multifunctional.

Both our Book Caddy and Book Hammock have been designed with handles to allow books to be easily moved from room to room or even outside for story time.

Our Small Crate, The Mini Caddy and The Midi Caddy have been designed not just with storage in mind, but to also be usable during play and craft time. We find The Midi Caddy is particularly useful for holding taller things like pens, pencils, paintbrushes and other craft and art products. It's a piece of furniture that looks after our creative supplies and something that we love to break out on a rainy day when it's too cold to play outside. Once craft time is over and everything's been cleaned up, it's super easy with all of our small storage to pop our things away and keep them safe and organised ready for the next time.

Another great idea for small storage is our Small Crate. Fill it with beautiful products for a baby shower, fill it with chocolate bunnies and eggs for Easter or create the best looking Christmas Eve box you've ever seen. The possibilities are endless!
